Growing up

My oldest son is getting so big. Last week he started school for the first time. It was hard to let him go but I can already see him maturing and learning. The first day I cried, now I look forward to dropping him off and I am ready to pick him up at the end of the day. He goes everyday, all day. It is so hard to watch your children grow up and at the same time realize as they age, so do you. Starting school brings forth a whole new set of problems to deal with. Are they making friends? Eating all of their lunch? Do they miss us during the day? Do they feel abandoned. Sometimes I want to drive to the playground and peek through the fence to see what he is up to/if he is having a good time. This being a parent is hard stuff.

I iz a married woman now............

Believe it or not Mike and I finally tied the night. After returning home from a two week vacation in June I decided that it was time to take the big step. I got little to no hesitation from Mike and we decided to shoot for the end of the summer. We had always talked about getting hitched before Aden started school so we got married August 29th and had a small reception on the 30th. We went to the courthouse for the ceremony and I giggled through the whole thing. I honestly do not remember much of it, I was so nervous. I was trying not to cry so I think that is why I was laughing. Not to mention Mike was making faces at me as I said my vows. On my wedding night my friends surprised us with a motel room all decked out. It was the best, most thoughtful present I could have gotten. We had a wonderful time and I will never forget it. The next morning the above mentioned friends picked me up for more surprises. I got my make up professionally done and then we had a breakfast of bagels and mimosa. It was friggen awesome!!! We had the reception in our backyard and it turned out pretty nice. I am so relieved it is over and now I have health insurance again LOL. Besides that, nothing much has really changed as the result of being a married woman.

Blows my mind

So I currently enrolled in a US history course. Wow do they really only tell you the glorified version of history in grade school!!! It amazes me the things that our government and its leaders have done in the not so distant past. The subject that totally put my panties in a wad is the fact that the government secretly sterilized men and women they considered "feebleminded". The definition of feebleminded was vague and often women who birthed children out of wedlock were given the label. This happened from the 20's and continued well into the 1980's. Are you kidding me? The government would tell these men and women oh this is a shot for so and so and it was not until year later when they were unable to conceive a child that they learned that the country they loved had deceived them. So being "easy" or having a child out of wedlock makes you unfit for parenthood? Wow, if that were the case half the country would be locked up in institutions and considered feebleminded.
I love that when you are taught history in elementary and high school even, they portray our founding fathers and subsequent leaders as they morally righteous men. Too often we hear today how our society is going down the drain, when in reality the problems we have today were also faced in the past as well. I believe it was Madison who had an affair with one of his slaves and impregnated her. Franklin Roosevelt cheated on Eleanor with her secretary and she moved into a separate house on the Roosevelt estate. Yet when Clinton used cigars as sex toys the nation was in an uproar as he was the leader of the country and dagnabbit he better uphold family morals.

Already?

So the time has come, my oldest child is going to start Kindergarten in the fall. Where did the time go? 5 years ago I was officially overdue, huge, with 29 chins and a butt the size of Kentucky. The birth of Aden was long and painful but the most amazing experience of my life. It was instantaneous unfaltering love. Now he is going to be 5 and going to school. Aden does not want to go to school, he is adamant that he is not going to school and although I know he has to go, I am secretly happy he does not want to leave his mommy. It just seems to unreal. I see pictures from his life thus far and it seems like they were taken just yesterday. How can it be that my baby can be 5 on Thursday?

Spring?

So we have sprung forward..... where the BLEEP is Spring? HAHA. For those of us in northern climates, we have been stuck in the house for the past 5 months. I am going stir crazy. I am ready to pull my hair out and run around nekkid in protest of the cold. Why do I live in Michigan? I have no clue, but it is sure not for the weather. I need the warmth. I need the sun. I need flip flops and tank tops and bronze skin. It is not a WANT, it is a NEED. I can not wait to see the first signs of spring, the tulips trying to break through the cold ground, grass starting to come back to life. Playdates at places other than McDonalds or the germ ridden mall, porch parties and bon fires with the best friends ever..... ahh. I need a time machine, to fast forward time just a few weeks.... or months.... after all we do live in Michigan.

Freaking out

So there is a chance that I may be pregnant and I am so scared. I love the 2 kids I have with all of my heart but the thought of adding another makes me want to jump off of a cliff. Last week we had a bit of an accident and did not use protection, although I tried it was just too late. So here I sit, analyzing every symptom over and over. I am tired, my chest hurts, etc. Of course these symptoms can be attributed to things other than pregnancy but none the less I am scared crapless. Would I love the baby, of course! However I have no desire what so ever to ever EVER EVER be pregnant again.
